There are many sites that focus on the different elite awarded medals such as the Bronze Star, Silver Star, Distinguished Service Cross…etc. We have decided to display some lesser known State Victory Medals and City-Town-Organization Victory Medals from our medal collection.
WWI U.S. State Victory Medals. The first section contains all 16 official WWI state victory medals. These are the only officially medals issued by thirteen different states. Missouri and Pennsylvania issued one medal to be given to National Guard members and one medal to all other veterans from the state. The New York Aqueduct Service Medal was awarded to members of the New York National Guard and New York Home Guard for their defensive service during World War I. They protected the aqueducts that provide water to New York City from sabotage.
WWI Pennsylvania Issued Victory Medals. The Victory Medals below were issued by different Cities, Towns and Organizations within Pennsylvania. There are hundreds if not thousands of different Victory Medals that were issued within the different states. Being that we’re from Pennsylvania, we have narrowed our collection to just Pennsylvania issued medals. Our PA collection is not complete, so we will add new acquisitions as we obtain them.
WWI U.S. Patches. The follow WWI U.S. Patches came out of a house clean-out near Philadelphia. Unfortunately, the original owner and story of the collection has been lost, but it is a great group of rank and specialized insignia.
WWI U.S. Unit Patches. We have collected the following WWI U.S. Unit Patches over the years as we picked up other groupings. There is no history for these other than the history of the units themselves.
